NIRAS has achieved renewed insights into the business with Microsoft Fabric

NIRAS A/S has established a new Microsoft Fabric-based data platform to gain better insight into the business and predict future events.

NIRAS A/S is an international consulting firm that provides engineering, planning and project management services for sustainable development and growth. NIRAS A/S works with clients in various sectors such as infrastructure, energy, the environment, and the food and agriculture sector. NIRAS A/S strives to be an attractive high-tech workplace that delivers innovative and quality solutions to their customers.

Technological frontrunner

NIRAS A/S wants to be a frontrunner also when it comes to the use of digital technology. Thus, NIRAS A/S has also been diligent in exploring the possibilities of strengthening their data capabilities and insights with Microsoft Fabric, which is a relatively new platform.

Therefore, Project Director Sarah Arndt Christensen and two of her colleagues from NIRAS A/S participated in the Fellowminds Fabric Labs at Microsoft, where they learned about the features and benefits of Microsoft Fabric. In this way, they quickly gained clarity on how Fabric could help NIRAS A/S achieve their goals.

"Fabric Labs worked really well as a learning day, where my colleagues and I could spar with other developers and try out all the different features and functions on our own data. At the same time, we got some good advice on how to use Fabric in everyday life," says Sarah Arndt Christensen.

A good start to the Fabric journey

After participating in Fabric Labs, NIRAS A/S has decided to start their Fabric journey together with Fellowmind, who has helped with the implementation and development of the platform. Fellowmind has assisted NIRAS A/S in loading various data sources into Fabric and with best practices in data management and design of a data platform.

"After participating in the Fabric Labs conference, I sought collaboration with Fellowmind to find a knowledgeable supervisor to begin our journey with Fabric. This collaboration remains essential as we develop our governance strategies and strengthen our Fabric skills, which will support our continued success with the Data and Analytics platform in NIRAS A/S."

In addition, Fellowmind has helped NIRAS A/S with the capacity model and its built-in reporting in Fabric, which has enabled them to track their consumption and costs efficiently.

"Fellowmind possesses an in-depth knowledge of Fabric and its potential, and understands how it can be adapted to meet a number of business needs, which can strengthen our BI team in NIRAS A/S. Their close partnership with Microsoft allows them to draw on valuable resources and support to amplify Fabric initiatives."

New data exploration opportunities

With Fabric, NIRAS A/S has been given the opportunity to explore their business data in completely new ways. First and foremost, it has easier access to data across different sources and systems, and thus also better opportunities to compare and analyze data. With Fabric, NIRAS A/S is better able to make predictions about future events and generally make data-supported decisions.

In addition, Fabric has helped NIRAS A/S with easier role management to ensure better access control and data security in accordance with NIRAS A/S' requirements.
